Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve been helping visitors to Egypt learn Arabic for over 20 years!
We have two branches. One in Heliopolis, Cairo and the other in Aswan. Learn more about our branches on our About Us page.
We are a warm and friendly institute with a passion for teaching the Arabic language and the culture in which it is embedded. We aim to help our students reach their highest potential in language learning but also leave plenty of room for community and fun.
Yes, all of our teachers are native Arabic speakers trained to teach foreigners.
That’s a good question. Egyptian Arabic, as the spoken language of the most populous Arab nation, opens doors to authentic interactions in daily life here in Egypt and can be used abroad since it’s one of the most widely understood dialects. Modern Standard Arabic provides access to classical literature, media, and formal communication across the Arab world. Each study path will produce a different outcome and open different doors for you. Studying Egyptian Arabic will enhance your relationships and enable you to navigate daily life in the Arab world. Studying Modern Standard Arabic, on the other hand, will equip you for more formal environments such as the news, higher education, literature, and politics. Need help deciding? Reach out to us!
While we believe that face-to-face learning is the best way to learn a language we also understand that sometimes life does not allow for this. So we do offer courses both in-person and using online platform such as Zoom.
It’s important to remember that learning a language is a lifelong (fun!) process. Our 12-level Arabic course is the beginning of the journey and is thorough enough to get students living, working, and making friends in Arabic! Students studying full-time (5 days a week at 3-4 hours a day, can typically complete our 12-level Egyptian Arabic course in 1-1.5 years. After completing the course, most students then enter into either one of our more specialized courses or our conversation classes to continue developing their language skills.
While we do recommend people complete the full course for the best results, we understand life situations may mean you can only do bits at a time. That’s fine! We recommend committing to completing a certain number of levels during each period of study.
The Growing Participator Approach (GPA). is a method that has been growing in popularity in recent years. We believe that while there are some great tools and resources to be found in this method we also know that language learning and people are far more complex and require more than just this approach. We want our students to be fully functioning adults participating in their new Arabic communities as soon as possible and therefore we use a balanced teaching approach in our classroom that is strong in all the ‘four skills’ (i.e. speaking, listening, reading, writing) and grammar. This approach uses the best of all the approaches (including GPA) based on up-to-date research ensuring that there are no ‘gaps’ in our students’ learning. Learn more about our curriculum on the ‘Our Courses’ page. If you would like to learn more about why we use a comprehensive approach rather than GPA, please contact us.
