About the Center

Anchor is a well-established language institute known and trusted by locals and foreigners alike with over 20 years of experience in teaching Egyptian Colloquial Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic, and English to students from all over the world each with their different ages, professions, and backgrounds.

I like to think of our center as an anchor in the midst of Egypt. When students come new to Egypt it can be easy to feel a bit overwhelmed and lost. We provide a place where students can come and be supported whilst also helping them gain the language and cultural skills needed for them to become anchored in their local Egyptian communities.

About the Founder

Nermeen Makram is the founder of Anchor Institute. She has been working to help others learn Arabic and English for over 20 years and has a passion to help people discover the beauty and joy of Egypt by learning the language of its people. For her, a language institute is about so much more than just verbs, vocabulary, and quizzes. It’s about building a community to journey together in life and in Egypt!
